I think we speak for most people when we say that the move from Genoa to Barcelona for the MYBA Charter Show this year was a welcome change and a vast improvement.  We had a great show and enjoyed catching up with old friends and making lots of new contacts.

THANK YOU

Thank you to everyone that came to see us at our stand and particularly those that came and enjoyed our gin & tonics every evening, especially our neighbours, all of the crew on M/Y CD Two, who made us feel very much at home  – we loved hosting you every evening!   Thanks to MYBA for organising such a great show and thanks to the wonderful Amandine team who worked super hard all week.

FOOD IN BARCELONA

Enough of the thank you’s – onto the food!   We definitely made the most of being in this great city and took every opportunity available to eat out when possible because great food matters and that’s what we’re all about at the end of the day!  Our foodie week consisted of a tasting menu of modern tapas at Arola in the Arts Hotel; paella and amazingly fresh and delicious fresh fish at Barraca in Barceloneta; my favourite traditional tapas at the institution that is Cal Pep; and some slightly weird and wonderful dishes at Los Caracoles including rabbit with snails.   Alongside the food we polished off a fair few bottles of Albariño,  Hannah got hooked on Vermut and of course a trip to Spain would not be complete without Rioja!  We enjoyed a particularly good 2012 Reserva Vina Poma – delicious!   Luckily we were also staying right by an amazing bakery, Baluard in Barceloneta, recommended to us by one of our local chefs and it didn’t disappoint.   Last, but by no means least we have to mention the food we tasted on board M/Y Silver Angel courtesy of the lovely chef Nick Wagner – one of very few chefs that invited us on board to taste his food.  The canapés he prepared were absolutely delicious and we were blown away by the flavour combinations – thank you Nick and well done.

We are already looking forward to going back again next year to try as many new restaurants as possible (Àbac, Angle, Lasarte, Disfrutar and Bar Mut are a few on the shortlist), eating more of our chef’s food and of course finding great chefs for all those charter boats at the show!
