Last week, the Amandine team had a delightful lunch experience at SOLA, nestled in the heart of Soho, London. Under the culinary direction of Chef Victor Garvey, this restaurant channels the essence of  Los Angeles, infusing it with London’s vibrant dining scene; hence the name SO (Soho) and LA (Los Angeles).

Stepping into this restaurant immediately transports you to a cozy Californian oasis. Classic tunes from the 80’s permeated the air, provoking spontaneous shoulder-shimmies and impromptu sing-alongs from our group. Unusual to have a meal accompanied by music of this type but oddly refreshing and comforting.

For lunch, SOLA presents a meticulously curated set menu, featuring an array of culinary delights.

To kick off, there were five snacks to get our taste buds tantalised, accompanied by a delicious glass of saké, followed by a choice of starters and mains, culminating in a tempting selection of cheeses and desserts.

It is very difficult to choose a favourite dish, but I have to say the Scallops stole the spotlight with their impeccable presentation and harmonious blend of flavours – morel, markut lime, and osmanthus.

Closely followed by the Pear, Calvados, Sumac and Bay dessert which was recommended by the wonderful Italian maitre d’ and did not disappoint.

Our experience at SOLA was a wonderful blend of relaxed ambiance and culinary excellence.

Whether a local or a passerby, a visit to this culinary gem promises an unforgettable gastronomic journey.
