VIRTUAL CHEFS’ COMPETITION
#HAIL YOUR HEROES
Normally at this time of year chefs are flexing their culinary muscles at the MYBA Superyacht Charter Show Chefs’ Competition in Barcelona. However, since the show is sadly not going ahead as usual we’ve decided to run a different type of competition – a virtual one.
The theme is HEROES – to celebrate all the medical and front line workers across the world and we will be donating all money raised to the charity Action Against Hunger’s COVID-19 RELIEF FUND. Chefs must cook one dish that celebrates their favourite hero – real or fictional.
A judging panel of industry experts will be judging the presentation and creativity of the dishes.
We welcome all chefs that would like to enter whether you are working on a yacht or not!
REGISTRATION
To register for the competition please send us the following details to [email protected]
The competition closes midnight Thursday 14th May.
URGENT CORONAVIRUS APPEAL
Since we are trying to raise money for a good cause, we are asking all the chefs / yachts that wish to enter the competition to make a donation to Action Against Hunger’s Covid-19 Appeal Fund.
It is not compulsory and you can enter the competition without making a donation but we would obviously rather if you did!
Please click here to make a donation and to find out more about the great work this charity is doing to help the worlds most vulnerable people impacted by Covid-19.
THE RULES
The chef must prepare and cook a minimum of 1 plate of food that relates to the theme HEROES.
It is up to the chef if they want to do more courses or create a whole menu – however only one plate of food needs to be submitted to be judged.
THE THEME
We’ve chosen HEROES as the competition theme to celebrate the brave work and contributions of all the frontline medical workers across the world during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Your dish must relate directly to the theme of “Heroes” and celebrate a hero of your choosing and you must give your dish a title.
It can be a real-life hero or you can choose a fictional hero or super hero from a movie, book or song etc.
We urge the chefs to be as creative as they like and the use of props is also allowed.
Please feel free to provide any explanations in the video submission or you can use props alongside your dish to explain why you have chosen your hero and how your dish relates to your chosen hero.
HOW TO ENTER
In order for your plate of food to be judged you must post video footage and photographs onto the Yacht Chef Competition Facebook Group by midnight on THURSDAY 14th MAY. This is a closed group so you will need to request access to join if you haven’t already done so.
IMPORTANT – When you post your images & video please include:
VIDEO x 1
To enter you must submit at least one video of you with your dish, explaining the title and inspiration behind your plate of food.
In addition, as an option, you can upload video of you preparing your dish (you can use time lapse for this if you like). Any other video content relating to the competition is optional but will be well received!
